Toyota has recalled more than 28,000 LandCruisers and Tundras over a transmission fault which could cause the car to move forward when shifted to neutral.
Toyota Australia has recalled approximately 28,400 examples of its Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series SUV and Toyota Tundra pick-up, citing a potential fault with the 10-speed automatic transmission fitted to both models.
The affected vehicles were built from 10/12/2021 and 12/01/2024 inclusive.
The recall notice, says the brake disc inside the transmission “may not immediately disengage when the vehicle is shifted to the neutral position.”

“If this condition occurs when the vehicle is on a flat surface, and if the driver does not apply the service brake or the parking brake, it could allow a vehicle to inadvertently creep forward at a low speed (up to approximately 6km/h), which could increase the risk of a crash,” the Toyota statement read.

Toyota Australia advises it will contact owners, with a free software upgrade for the transmission computer available to fix the problem.
