The fault could cause a loss of motive power and the battery to stop charging, according to the recall notice.

Kia Australia has recalled 3948 examples of its Kia EV6, citing a potential fault with the software which could cause the battery to stop charging.

The affected vehicles are stamped 2021 to 2024, but may have been sold later.

The recall notice, lodged with the Department of Infrastructure, says: “Due to a software issue, the Integrated Charging Unit may develop an internal fault causing a warning light to illuminate on the instrument cluster and the 12-volt battery to stop charging.

“This could result in a loss of motive power.

“A loss of motive power may occur if the warning lights are ignored which could increase the risk of an accident, causing injury or death to the vehicle occupants and/or other road users.”
