This Harley-Davidson Snow Bike Is Simply Bonkers

Summary

  • A Harley-Davidson Street Glide was transformed into a snow bike using a Timbersled ARO conversion kit in a unique project.
  • The bike retains its original appearance with raised ape hangers, free-flow exhaust, and fiery livery.
  • The conversion involved swapping stock wheels for a snowmobile package, including a 129″ track and dual shocks for snow peak navigation.

There’s no denying Harley-Davidsons are crowd favorites in the custom motorcycle world. We’ve covered all kinds of custom H-D bikes here, whether it’s a supercharged Fat Boy or a Sportster off-roader. This popularity often results in some out-of-the-box, otherworldly projects too, and today, we’re taking a look at one such example. The project is based on a popular H-D bagger, but it’s something we’ve never imagined before, let alone seen in the real world.

The Project Started Its Life As A Harley-Davidson Street Glide

Yes, you read that right. The snow bike you see here started its life as a Street Glide. Although the creator doesn’t specify; it looks like the 2014 model evident from the shape of the fairing, halogen headlight, and saddlebags. Another giveaway is the ‘103’ badging on the chrome engine bay. It stands for the 103ci Twin Cam engine that displaced 1,690cc to produce 105 pound-feet and about 90 horsepower.

The example shown here isn’t stock, though. It has raised ape hangers, a free-flow exhaust, and a smashing fiery livery along with some other upgrades to amp up the bagger. Not that any of that mattered to CBoysTV, as they solely focused on converting this into a bona fide snow beast.

The Harley-Davidson Street Glide Underwent Big Changes For Its Snow Excursion

That brings us to the conversion. For the project, CBoysTV simply wanted to make the Street Glide as snow-ready as possible without changing its identity. So the team left much of the motorcycle’s appearance as it is, be it the massive batwing fairing, the saddlebags, or the ape hanger. The inevitable change, though, was the swap from road-going stock wheels to a full-blown snowmobile package.

What you see here is a Timbersled ARO conversion kit primarily meant for dirt bikes. It comprises a 129″ x 11.5″ x 2.5″ Timbersled Traverse Track and dual shocks for taking you across the steepest of snow peaks. All of it is carved from aluminum, so things are pretty sturdy too.

How does a stage 3 Screamin’ Eagle mill, raised suspension, and stripped-back design sound?

Since the team has already done this kind of stuff before (they transformed a 2008 Yamaha YZF-R1 into a snowmobile recently), they knew where to begin. Out went Harley’s tubular swingarm, rear shocks, shaft-pulley setup, and 16-inch wheel to make way for the gigantic snow track. Likewise, the front wheels and disc brakes were ditched to bring in the front plow. All the parts fit effortlessly (relatively), resulting in what looks nothing like any Street Glide.

With everything done, the video shows the team ripping snow trails on the Harley-Davidson with ease. It’s something we never imagined seeing a bagger do, but hey, there’s a first time for everything, right? Oh, and don’t forget to watch the final bit where the boys try to do a snow hill climb with the bagger. Spoiler alert: it doesn’t go to plan!
