The start of a new year in the motorcycle world is always filled with anticipation of the new models coming in hot. If 2023 was a good year for new and revised models, then 2024 looks to be the same. The models on this list we’ve either seen in press releases or in the flesh at the EICMA show in Milan last November or confirmed by companies unofficially, but we’ve yet to swing a leg over them and see if the reality lives up to the hype. That it will is not really in doubt as we are witnessing an age of incredibly well-engineered and dynamically brilliant motorcycles in whatever class you’d care to mention. No matter your riding preference, it is certain that 2024 will have something for you.



This is a list of upcoming motorcycles, some of which have not been completely revealed yet. While we make every attempt to verify facts and back up any speculation, the information provided below may not be entirely accurate or may change before a vehicle’s release. We will make every effort to update this content with new developments as they arise.

Previous Triumph Daytona models, such as the Daytona 675, have been out-and-out sporting middleweights, with a solid reputation for fine handling and punchy performance. The Daytona 660 aims to take the flag forward. It’s based on the current Trident 660 and Tiger Sport 660, both of which have been huge successes for Triumph, being small, light, and super-accessible, with typically excellent build quality. We can’t wait for this to hit American dealerships!

Even though the Triumph Speed and Scrambler 400 models have barely made it into showrooms, Triumph is already stirring the ingredients pot for a new entry-level offering. A late-2023 spy shot showed what appears to be the engine and frame of the 400cc models, with a Speed Triple 1200 RR-style bikini fairing. Could this be a Speed 400 RR café racer or even gain the Thruxton name?


All the 400 range is being built in India, thanks to a tie-up between Triumph and Bajaj and it’s hard to see anything other than huge sales for Triumph in that territory, given the size of the small-displacement motorcycle market. But it’s also going to sell well in every other country in which it’s available because, by all reports, it shares all the usual Triumph qualities: performance, handling, and superior quality.

What is a manufacturer without a retro model in its range these days, if not behind the curve and giving away sales to rivals? MV Agusta is one of the most storied names in motorcycling and, if the racing successes of the 1950s, ‘60s, and ‘70s are now well in the past, this rather lovely concept shows that the company hasn’t forgotten about its heritage. Of all the retro styles, it is the café racer that has made the most impact and the MV Agusta 921 S is a recreation of the 750S model from the 1970s.

While that particular model was hugely expensive and produced in tiny numbers, the 921 S will undoubtedly be a lot more accessible to a lot more people. Even if it is only a concept at the moment, word from the factory is that it will go into production in 2024, powered by a 921cc, 115 horsepower inline four-cylinder engine.

Return of the diminutive supersports model

It appears that rumors of the 600cc sports bike class’s demise have been severely exaggerated. For a couple of decades, the baby siblings of the liter-superbike class offered just as much dynamism and raw performance in tiny packages as their bigger brothers. But the class has looked decidedly sickly in recent years as sales of sports bikes have fallen through the floor.


This makes it all the more surprising that Honda has chosen to bring back its middleweight sports bike in largely unaltered form. Is a 600cc, inline four-cylinder screamer with a narrow power band and uncompromising riding position something that will fly off the showroom floors, or has that boat sailed? Honda obviously thinks not, and it has thrown the electronic rider-assistance feature book at the CBR600RR to bring it right up to date. Bear in mind, the Japanese bikemaker has already announced the old 600RR in America, but we could see the new version come here by end of this year. Perhaps, as a 2025 model.

6 KTM 990 Adventure

Who didn’t see this one coming? KTM has been a serious player in the middleweight naked sports and adventure bike classes for a long time now, and it was inconceivable the 990 Duke would be the only application for the new 947cc parallel-twin engine. KTM made its name with off-road motorcycles before it turned its attention to street bikes and the arrival of the 990 Adventure in 2024 comes as no surprise. Will it replace the existing 790 and 890 Adventure models? That is merely conjecture at the moment, as indeed is the potential existence of a 990 Adventure model. But it would be a brave person who would bet against it, given KTM’s past form. If it does appear, it should be the perfect combination of performance, capability, size, and agility.

KTM hasn’t been defined by faired sports bikes, other than the short-lived RC8, the limited production RC 8C (shown), and the small-displacement faired RC trio. But all that may be about to change as KTM looks to see the best return on its investment in the new 990 engine. Despite spy shots having shown the existence of faired RC prototypes, nothing has been officially announced. All that might be about to change with the arrival of the 990 platform, which would lend itself nicely to a faired sports bike. In the 990 Duke, the engine pushes out 121 horsepower, for reference.

In 2022, Suzuki finally laid to rest the lovely 90° 650cc V-Twin that had done sterling service for so long in models. Its replacement? A brand-new parallel twin engine in a beautifully sporting naked model, which gained huge praise at its release. There’s no reason to believe that the faired GSX-8R will receive any less praise in 2024, and it certainly looks the part. The riding position looks more upright and relaxed than the likes of the Honda CBR600RR, more along the lines of the Triumph Daytona 660 listed above. There is no reason to believe that the new parallel twin engine won’t display the same bullet-proof characteristics of previous Suzuki engines, either.

Ducati’s early motorcycles were powered exclusively by single-cylinder engines (if we conveniently ignore the still-born Apollo V4 of the mid-1960s). And then, from the 1970s, production gradually shifted to the new 90° V-Twin. There was the single-cylinder Supermono in the mid-1990s, but that was very much a limited production bike intended for racing only.


Thus, the announcement of Ducati’s first single-cylinder road-bike engine for 50 years has gained huge publicity and with good reason. Developing an incredible 77 horsepower, the 698cc engine, which is effectively half an 1198 V-twin, will debut in the Hypermotard 698. It promises to be as hooligan a bike as was ever made road-legal. Whether the engine will see service in another configuration of the motorcycle is uncertain, but you have to ask why wouldn’t it? For now, the 698 Hypermotard has us all drooling at the prospect of riding it.

Royal Enfield continues to amaze with its willingness to move forward from the evergreen Bullet model, while staying faithful to producing simple but effective motorcycles. With the Himalayan getting the new 450cc, liquid-cooled ‘Sherpa’ engine, the same powerhouse will soon find its place in a new Scram 450. The motorcycle has already been spied several times. 39 horsepower will put the Scram 450 right into Husqvarna Svartpilen and Triumph Scrambler 400 territory, especially along with luxuries such as a TFT dash and ride modes. A strong price should go a long way to cementing RE’s reputation.

OK, so we’re into full conjecture mode here, but perhaps if we wish hard enough, it might happen! Yamaha has enjoyed huge success with the MT-09 family, not to mention the MT-07-based YZF-R7 supersport model (pictured). So would it be too much of a stretch of the imagination to think that a similar MT-09-based faired sports bike could be on the cards? Is it a coincidence that Yamaha’s WSSP team manager has hinted the R6 is going away for good? Or does the company intend to do something with it?
