When the Ford F-150 Raptor R debuted in 2022 as a 2023 model, we were impressed with the 700-horsepower number. Now for 2024, this supercharged desert drifter gets a 20-horsepower boost.
720 horsepower? Yes, please!
The 2024 Ford F-150 Raptor R is now the most powerful high-performance truck available, besting the Ram TRX by 18 horsepower as that truck enters its final model year. The 5.2-liter supercharged engine has been updated for 2024, and the 20-horsepower increase is due to reduced air inlet losses coupled with an optimized calibration that results in a wider torque curve.
2024 Ford F-150 Raptor R what’s new
Outside of the engine tweak, the 2024 Ford F-150 Raptor R gets a couple additional changes. First, you’ll notice a new modular bumper, which makes it easier to add Ford accessories – like a Warn winch – while retaining the forward camera and parking sensors. You’ll also notice some new “Raptor” graphics above the wheel lip molding, a boxside graphic on each side of the vehicle and a specially designed hood graphic with two front fender emblems. If you want to fly under the radar, there is also a graphic delete option.
The bottom line
Unless Ram has some magic up its sleeve for 2024, it looks like the Ford Motor Co. gets the last word in the truck wars, with the Raptor R trouncing the soon-to-be-extinct T-Rex.
