The opening round of the 2025 F1 season will return to Australia, with the eyes of the world watching as Lewis Hamilton switches to Ferrari.
The 2025 Formula One Championship will kick off in Melbourne with the Australian Grand Prix announced as the season opener.
It’s the first time the Albert Park street circuit has hosted the first round of F1 since 2019.
While the 2024 season is still in full swing, excitement is building for the 2025 season, with seven-time World Champion Sir Lewis Hamilton leaving a long and successful tenure at Mercedes-Benz to drive for Ferrari alongside Charles Leclerc – and ousting Carlos Sainz in the process.
Sainz has yet to secure his own seat for the 2025 season, despite winning the 2024 Australian Grand Prix – the only driver other than Max Verstappen to take the top spot on a podium this season – and taking third place at Bahrain and Japan.
Australia will be the first of 24 rounds in the 2025 F1 Championship, which will mark its 75th anniversary as the world’s premier motorsports category.

Showing the meteoric rise in popularity of F1 in North America since Netflix’s Drive to Survive television series, the 2025 season will include three races in the United States – the first being in Miami in early May, the second in Austin in October, before returning to Las Vegas in November.
The season will end at the Yas Marina circuit in Abu Dhabi in early December.
The 2024 Australian round in Melbourne broke attendance records, with 452,055 estimated to have passed through the turnstiles over the four-day event.
“After the resounding success of the Formula One Rolex Australian Grand Prix 2024, we are already looking forward to 2025 and the opportunities we have to continue to grow and improve the fan experience,” Australian Grand Prix Corporation CEO Travis Auld said in a written statement.
The 2025 Australian Grand Prix will take place from 14 to 16 March 2025, with ticket sales to be announced at a later date.
