2021-2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6 recalled in Australia for battery fault

The software fault could cause battery drainage and loss of motive power, according to the recall notice.

Hyundai Australia has recalled 3521 examples of its Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Hyundai Ioniq 6, citing a potential fault with the software which could cause battery drainage and a loss of motive power.

The affected vehicles are stamped 2021 to 2024 models, but may have been sold at a later date.

The recall notice, lodged with the Department of Infrastructure, says: “Due to a software issue in the Integrated Charging Control Unit, the auxiliary 12-volt battery may not charge as intended, resulting in battery drainage and loss of motive power.

“A loss of motive power whilst driving could increase the risk of an accident causing injury or death to vehicle occupants and/or other road users.”
