Cross-country racing is what the KTM XC series is about, and for 2025, the lineup gets a refresh. Taking the one-frame-fits-all approach, the updates on the XC series follow the footsteps of the SX range. It includes a more flexible frame, improved suspension, and redesigned tank shrouds. Will these bikes dominate the cross-country championships? Time will tell, but what we do know is that the 2025 KTM XC bikes are certainly better than ever.

New chassis, improved suspension, and the return of the KTM 150 SX two-stroke bike
Lighter Frame And Revised WP XACT Suspension
Frame Type: Central Double-Cradle-Type, 25CrMo4 Steel
As was the case with the SX series, the XC series gets the latest-gen frame. Older XC frames were too stiff and heavy at the headstock for some riders, and the new frame aims to fix that. So, there are updated shock mountings and front triangles, with more wall thickness. The engine cutouts have also been updated to enhance flex. KTM says these changes make the chassis more flexible, and lighter by 0.66 pounds while improving stability and cornering.
Suspension Revision In Line With The Frame
Then, there’s the upgraded WP XACT suspension. Closed cartridges replace the AER cartridges on the USD fork, which is claimed to offer a more linear performance for long races. KTM has also revised the fork rings for better protection, with the addition of a new hydro stop in the last 2.67 inches of the stroke to add some “give” to the suspension.
On the back, the WP XACT monoshock brings updates that improve damping characteristics for rough terrain and improve traction. This is paired with a revised linkage, while being a bit shorter and lighter than the 2024 XC shock. The travel remains unchanged at 11.81 inches (300 mm).
The WP XACT suspension is revised to work with a more flexible frame. KTM claims it improves the weight distribution and response of the motorcycle. How much? Only a proper ride will tell. Oh, and in case you don’t like the setup, each end is adjustable with hand clickers, making it easy to tune them quickly.
Other Improvements And Changes To The XC Series
- New fuel tank roll to ensure better fitment, reducing frame scrubbing and improving durability
- Updated tank shrouds with bi-compound plastics to aid cooling
- Updated one-piece air inlet sleeve and snorkel design made with stiffer material
- Enhanced chain guard for improved mud dissipation
- Revised rear brake pedal with better resistance to bending in cases of tip-overs
- Full-orange bodywork and orange/black in-mold graphics for the 2025 models
