2025 Kia Tasman ute interior exposed in new video

The interior of the upcoming Kia ute has been caught on camera – with twin widescreen displays and a wand-style gear selector – in a new video posted online.

This is the interior of the 2025 Kia Tasman under the camouflage about six months before the new ute is due to be unveiled – and more than a year ahead of its Australian showroom arrival.

A video posted on social media and obtained by technology website EFTM – where these exclusive screenshots were also sourced – shows the Tasman will borrow heavily from other models in the Kia range.

The short clip begins with the exterior of the Kia ute, which is covered in the same disguise as prototypes seen overseas – with the exception of a bright wrap under the foam panels and black covering.

The door of the vehicle is soon opened, and the person filming the video – who seems to have been given access by a second person in a high-vis vest – lifts up the cover over the dashboard used to disguise it from spy photographers on public roads.

It is the first time the Tasman’s interior has been caught on camera globally – with or without a disguise.

Visible are what appear to be the same 12.3-inch screens used in the Kia EV9 electric SUV – for infotainment and instruments – with a row of shortcut buttons below the central display.

It appears most of the air-conditioning controls have been moved into the touchscreen, though the video found by EFTM shows shortcut switches for air temperature and fan speed, as well as a volume dial.

The steering wheel looks similar to the new Kia K4 small car – which replaces the Cerato – while notable in its presence is a sunroof, a rarity in the ute class.

Other details in the video include a wand-style gear selector on the steering column – as with other new Hyundai and Kia cars – plus rugged-looking door handles, large cupholders, and one or two wireless phone chargers.

The front seats in this left-hand-drive prototype look to be heated and ventilated – another rarity in utes. The SsangYong Musso – also from South Korea – is one of few utes sold in Australia with ventilated seats.

A ‘Tasman’ licence plate in the rear of the cabin suggests this prototype is being used for dealer previews, EFTM speculates.

The Kia Tasman wears bold, blocky styling, and looks to be slightly bigger than Australia’s top-selling Toyota HiLux and Ford Ranger utes – particularly in its tall roofline.

It is due to launch in Australia in mid-2025 with a 2.2-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine, ahead of an electric version in development for an overseas launch in 2026.

Kia Australia is playing a key role in the planning and development of its first dual-cab ute, and has identified the HiLux and Ranger as key benchmarks – with a one-tonne payload and 3.5-tonne towing capacity.
