The software fault could cause a loss of power steering control, according to the recall notice.
Mercedes-Benz has recalled 20,201 examples of its Mercedes-Benz A-Class, EQA, EQB, CLA-Class, and GLB–Class, citing a potential fault with software which could cause a loss of power steering controls.
The affected vehicles are built between 2018 to 2024, though may have been sold at a later date.
The recall notice, lodged with the Department of Infrastructure, says: “The electrical power control unit backup software may not operate as intended.
“In the event of a failure of the power steering control unit, this could result in a loss of power steering control.
“A loss of power steering control could increase the risk of an accident causing injury or death to vehicle occupants and/or other road users.”
