When Mercedes announced the AMG C 63 S E Performance, it took the hybrid performance segment by storm. Breaking the perception that hybrid setups are favored toward efficiency, the German automaker paired it with Formula 1 tech and gave us a vehicle that did 0-60 mph in under four seconds.
While Mercedes stopped offering the V-8 mill under the hood, to the dismay of a lot of enthusiasts, it plonked a four-banger mill that made 469 horses before being aided by an electric motor, making it the most powerful production four-cylinder in the world.
Fast-forward to the present day, the automaker has revealed the pricing for the 2024 model year, and it starts at a little over $80,000. Mercedes also noted that the 2024 AMG C 63 S E Performance will arrive at the U.S. dealerships in spring this year.

671 Horses Waiting To Be Unleashed
The fantastic 4.0-liter V-8 engine made way for a four-cylinder turbocharged engine that displaces two liters, which sounds rough on paper, but doesn’t seem too bad when you look deeper. This engine is paired to a rear-mounted two-speed electric motor that draws power from a 400-volt AMG high-performance battery with a 6.1 kWh capacity. It sends a continuous output of 94 horses, and a peak output of 201 horses for 10 seconds. Coupled with the four-pot’s output, the setup churns out 671 ponies and 752 pound-feet of oomph.

How Hybridization Could Bring The V-8 Back To The Mercedes C-Class And E-Class
With speculation of the C and E-Class coming back with hybrid V-8 engines, it’s no surprise all eyes lie on Mercedes.
A Sporty Exterior And A Luxurious, Tech-heavy Interior
Mercedes has stated that the C 63 S E Performance is based on an “extensively modified AMG bodyshell”. The car is offered with seven different exterior paint options and four 20-inch wheel designs apart from the packages mentioned above. The automaker has also added a distinguishing feature that you won’t find on any other model, which is a narrow air outlet in the center of the hood, transitioning into the two power domes.
On the inside, the C 63 S E Performance comes fitted with AMG sports seats with MB-Tex/microfiber upholstery as standard. If these don’t float your boat, you have an option to choose from five other Nappa leather upholstery styles. You can also have the AMG Performance seats that seem to be better suited to keep you in place if you go corner-carving in this beast.
A few other standard features include:
- Power-heated front seats
- AMG Performance steering wheel in Nappa leather
- Panorama roof
- Burmester 3D Surround Sound System
- Enhanced 64-color ambient lighting
- Surround View System with 360-Degree Camera
In terms of tech, you get an 11.9-inch touchscreen with MBUX infotainment system and a 12.3-inch driver display that’s customized to feature various AMG- and hybrid-specific displays and functions.
