2024 Toyota Tundra: A Comprehensive Guide On Features, Specs, And Pricing

Powerful engines and optional factory-installed TRD upgrades elevate the Tundra’s capability, while premium interior and tech promise satisfaction.

2024 Toyota Tundra SR

The 2024 Toyota Tundra SR is this year’s lineup’s base trim, but don’t let that make you think that you will be missing out on some great features and specs. As standard, aside from the brutish and heavy-looking design, the 2024 Toyota Tundra SR trim features exterior features such as a tough aluminum-reinforced composite bed, a trailer reverse assist light, under-body and engine covers, front door handles which feature touch pouch/unlock tech, and a stainless steel exhaust system.

It is not all about what the pickup truck looks like from the outside. The interior showcases a driver-centric cockpit and features manually adjustable fabric-trimmed driver and passenger seats, under-seat storage, and 60/40 split rear seats.

MRSP: $39,965

Though it is not the cheapest new pickup truck of 2024, the Tundra SR does offer a lot for the relatively low MRSP. As with all modern vehicles, the Tundra SR comes equipped with some impressive technology which includes an 8-inch multimedia touchscreen, 6-speaker audio system, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It isn’t the world’s most techy pickup truck, like the GMC Sierra Denali 1500, but it is ample, especially for a base model and the relatively low price for a new pickup truck.

2024 Toyota Tundra SR Specifications

There are three engine options available for the 2024 Toyota Tundra, but not every trim has them available. The Toyota Tundra SR only has one engine option.

The next trim is called the 2024 Toyota Tundra SR5 and the increased MRSP is justified with a more powerful engine, higher towing capacities, and an improved list of optional extras that can be chosen at build compared to the base model.

As standard, the SR5 features everything that the SR features, but includes changeable driving modes; eco, normal, and sport mode, an active aero front spoiler, active grille shutters that open and close automatically, 265/70R18 all-season tires, and TOW/HAUL driving modes.

MRSP: $45,500

Along with the added standard features that the Toyota Tundra SR5 boasts, the optional extras that are available compared to the SR trim are extensive and include load-leveling rear height control air suspension, high-strength engine, fuel tank, and transfer case undercovers (as part of a package), and the TRD Off-Road Package which includes 18-inch alloy off-road tires, off-road suspension with Bilstein shocks, and aluminum sport pedals.

The third most expensive trim for the new Toyota Tundra range is the 2024 Toyota Tundra Limited. Boasting a rugged and hardy exterior design, the Tundra Limited is anything but limited and is set up for a more off-road driving experience. Featuring an on-demand, part-time four-wheel drive with an electronically controlled two-speed transfer case and automatic limited-slip differential (Auto LSD), the Limited trim is designed to be more capable on rougher terrains.

The 2024 Toyota Tundra Limited also showcases changeable driving modes, TOW/HAUL driving modes, active grille shutters, power vertical rear window with defogger and privacy glass, rear-seat air-vents, and heated front seats (as part of a package).

MRSP: $51,855

10 Reasons Why The Toyota Tundra Hybrid Is The Truck To Buy

The Toyota Tundra Hybrid combines the efficiency of a hybrid powertrain with the ruggedness and power of a truck.

2024 Toyota Tundra Platinum

The first trim to boast a hybrid engine as standard in the Toyota Tundra lineup is the 2024 Toyota Tundra Platinum. According to Toyota, the 2024 Toyota Tundra Platinum can achieve a combined MPG rating of 19 MPG thanks to the mild-hybrid engine that not only helps with gas-saving, but also gives a slight boost to the engine. It doesn’t have the same gas-saving potential as the hybrid truck with the longest driving range in 2024, but it is still better than some of its competitors.

The Platinum trim boasts a 14-inch multimedia touchscreen and nine-speaker set-up as standard. Towing capacities are slightly better, but the convenience of towing has been improved with features such as a Class-IV towing hitch receiver and wiring harness with seven-pin/four-pin connector, trailer backup guide system with straight path assist, trailer sway control, and an integrated trailer brake controller.

MRSP: $61,775

With the Tundra Platinum trim, it is clear from the higher price that you do get a lot more for your money.

The Toyota Tundra Platinum also boasts some enhanced exterior features compared to the first three trims, such as a gray-painted TRD honeycomb-style grille with dark chrome surround and 20-inch off-road wheels, as part of the TRD Off-Road package, a dark chrome-accented mesh grille with dark chrome surround, LED taillights with sequential turn signals, rain-sensing wipers, and a 120V/400W bed-mounted AC power outlet and LED bed lights.

The 2024 Toyota Tundra Platinum has one powertrain option, and it is the more economical hybrid V-6 engine.

Toyota USA Newsroom

The 2024 Toyota Tundra 1794 Edition is the next trim up and also features the hybrid V-6 powertrain. In addition to what the Platinum trim offers, the 1794 Edition is a very versatile pickup truck that can be fitted with an electronically controlled locking rear differential as part of an options package, to help with rougher terrain and towing heavy loads.

As standard, the 1794 Edition boasts hydraulic cab mounts, an electronically controlled braking system with integrated regenerative braking, and an upgradeable 10-inch heads-up display. The option packages are not as extensive as some of the lower trims, and you can’t have the TRD Off-Road Package added, but you can have underbody covers, skid plates, a 3-inch suspension lift kit, and heated tow mirrors added as optional extras.

MRSP: $62,460

Much like the Platinum trim, the Tundra 1794 boasts a hybrid engine and powerful electric motor. The electric motor that assists the engine can produce up to 48 horsepower and a very impressive 184 LB-FT of torque.

Also, though the ground clearance of the 1794 Edition (8.5-inches) is less than the lower trims’ ground clearance (9.3-inches), the 1794 Edition comes equipped with more towing assist features as standard, such as trailer sway control, a trailer backup system, an integrated trailer brake controller, and a class-IV towing hitch receiver and wiring harness with 7-pin/4-pin connector.

The TRD Pro is more equipped for outdoor adventures as standard, boasting engine and body covers, multi-terrain select modes, a 9-inch ground clearance, TRD aluminum front skid plate, and a minimum approach/departure angle of 26.2 / 24.2 degrees compared to the lower trims’ 21.0 / 24.0 degrees.

Though it is too early today if the Toyota Tundra will make it to one of the best off-road pickup trucks of all time, the new lineup of Tundra certainly has a lot of tech features to help it on the rough roads.

MRSP: $72,130

The TRD Pro trim is only available in one configuration, showcasing a CrewMax cab and a 5.5-ft bed. Other trims have more configurations available that range from double cabs and CrewMax cabs to 5ft 5-inch, 6ft 5-inch, and 8ft 1-inch beds. Though it boasts a smaller bed, the TRD Pro does require a bit more room to turn, with a turning circle of 49.8 ft, compared to lower trims that can turn in the road at around 48.6 ft.

Toyota Tundra Hybrid: 10 Things You Need To Know

The Toyota Tundra is one of the most famous trucks in the United States, and here’s what its hybrid version has to offer.

2024 Toyota Tundra Capstone

Toyota

The highest spec’d trim for the 2024 Toyota Tundra lineup is the Toyota Tundra Capstone. With an MRSP a lot higher than the other trims, the Capstone is the epitome of a luxurious and brilliant full-size pickup truck that is good off-road with the added bonus of being comfortable inside with 41.2 inches of front legroom, and hardy on the outside.

According to Fuel Economy.com, a hybrid, four-wheel drive 2024 Toyota Tundra has an estimated range of up to 612 miles. That means a lot of trucking on a range of roads, thanks to the Capstone’s mighty off-road and practical presence, in between filling up again. The 2024 Tundra has also been given a 5-star safety rating from the NHTSA, though it is worth noting that there have been two recalls because of unintended movement and an incorrect load-carrying capacity.

MRSP: $78,845

The 2024 Toyota Tundra Capstone showcases the most high-tech interior of the available trims and boasts a 14-inch multimedia touchscreen with twelve JBL speakers, blind spot monitoring, and front and rear automatic braking. It is fully equipped with towing aids such as trailer-sway control, an integrated trailer brake controller, and a trailer backup guidance system.

When it comes to off-road features, the Capstone is also extremely capable, so if you are looking for luxury, comfort, and usability, this is the trim to consider. Boasting independent double-wishbone front suspension with coil spring multi-link rear suspension as standard, adaptive variable suspension and load-leveling rear height control air suspension are also available to enhance off-road capabilities.

2024 Toyota Tundra Capstone Specifications

The Capstone trim also features the more economical mild-hybrid powertrain and can haul a huge amount. The hybrid system comes with a 96-month/100,000-mile warranty, the powertrain comes with a 60,000-mile warranty, and the basic warranty from Toyota for this trim, and the others, is a reasonable 36 months/36,000 miles.

JD Power has rated the 2024 Toyota Tundra 78 out of 100 for reliability, so it is a reasonably reliable pickup truck to own. Maybe not at the same reliability levels as some of the most reliable used pickup trucks in 2024, but Toyota is clearly confident in the hybrid system’s and powertrain’s capability for longevity.
