The latest addition to MV Agusta’s burgeoning stable introduces an entirely new engine and an exciting fresh contender to the competitive adventure motorcycle class. The Varese-based firm is better known for its premium sporty street bikes, such as its flagship Brutale, and exotic Superveloce. Nevertheless, the MV story began with success in post-war endurance racing. The new Enduro Veloce pays tribute to the Meccanica Verghera Agusta 98 Turismo, MV’s original 98cc single-cylinder two-stroke motorcycle and early endurance champion.

If this ‘new’ machine looks familiar, that’s because MV already unveiled it as the limited edition LXP Orioli at EICMA in November last year. Still, in its Enduro Veloce guise, it should be slightly less expensive (pricing TBD) and will arrive from the factory with a street-focused setup. The engine-protection bars, matching side cases, and off-road tires that adorned the concept are now part of the optional package. MV’s new adventure bike inherits its sibling’s good looks and, in another homage to the past, receives the Ago red and Ago silver color scheme.



Performance Meets Adventure

MV Agusta’s rev-happy 998cc inline-four and 798cc inline-three engines are the firm’s long-standing mainstays, and the introduction of its new 931cc triple in the Enduro Veloce marks a significant development for the storied Italian brand. Although the new triple promises to be characteristically revvy, MV quoted performance figures that favor mid-range torque over outright power. The Enduro Veloce produces a claimed peak horsepower of 124 at 10,000 RPM and 75 foot-pounds of torque at 7,000, 85% of which, we’re told, is available from just 3,000 RPM.

In developing the new powerplant, MV designers focused on finding the best compromise between size, mass, and performance. The result is a potent yet compact unit. The Enduro Veloce inherits MV’s counter-rotating crankshaft, mitigating the gyroscopic effect created by the engine and off-setting that of the 21-inch front wheel, promising light and agile handling. Power is transmitted to the rear wheel via a six-speed gearbox equipped with the latest generation of MV’s EAS quickshifter. But, alas, there was no mention of the excellent SCS clutch system found on the Dragster RR.

MV says that the Enduro Veloce’s high-tensile steel frame and bolt-on subframe offer the best compromise between weight and strength, promising optimized stability at speed and energy absorption off-road. While a diecast, aluminum, double-sided swingarm reduces unsprung weight. A giant, 48mm Sachs fork takes care of suspension up-font, and a progressive Sachs monoshock at the rear, each offers 8.3 inches of wheel travel and compression, rebound, and spring preload adjustment.


MV’s nascent adventurer gets some serious anchors, too. The front wheel incorporates dual Brembo Stylema calipers on 320mm floating discs and a dual-piston caliper with 265mm disc handles braking at the rear. Following off-road tradition and adding to its go-anywhere credentials, the Enduro Veloce offers nine inches of ground clearance and comes shod in spoked, tubeless Takasago Excel wheels, a 21-inch upfront, and 18 at the rear. A relatively long wheelbase (63.4) is similar to Ducati’s DesertX, which sacrifices a measure of agility for increased stability.

The Enduro Veloce’s tall standard seat height of 34.3 inches ensures a comfortable bend at the knee, although shorter riders can adjust it down to (a still tall) 33.5 inches. Its high, wide handlebar and generous seat promise neutral ergonomics and all-day riding comfort. The Enduro’s standard equipment also includes a luggage rack, hand protectors, and a full suite of rider aids and modes.

The Enduro Veloce showcases a state-of-the-art electronics package, enhancing its performance and promising an engaging riding experience. At its core is a 6-axis IMU platform that gathers dynamic data in real-time, allowing the bike’s electronics to adjust interventions based on riding conditions and preferences. Its ride-by-wire fuelling system supports three preset riding modes: Urban, Touring, and Off-Road, and a fully customizable All-Terrain mode. For traction control, the Enduro Veloce offers eight intervention levels, tailored to various road and off-road conditions, and is adaptable to the rider’s choice of tires, with specific settings for the standard Bridgestone Battlax all-weather A41 tires and the optional off-road AX41 tires.

The bike also boasts adjustable engine brake levels, with two settings for varying degrees of intervention, and a launch control feature, enabling smooth acceleration to 62 MPH in 3.72 seconds, aided by the Front Lift Control (FLC) system. Safety features include Continental MK100 Cornering ABS with Rear Wheel Lift-Up Mitigation (RLM), offering two levels of intervention and ensuring efficiency and safety during extreme braking.
