[ad_1]

Of the big three German luxury manufacturers, Audi is often left behind, with Mercedes and BMW being considered the main contenders. Audi has looked to refine their SUV lineup, with tough competition in this regard, to provide a brilliant blend that will have you riding in style while retaining peace of mind.

We take a look at the current Audi lineup and rank them from most reliable to least reliable. To keep you informed should you choose an Audi to be your next ride, we take a look at the costs associated with maintaining each model and what kind of features and performance you can expect at each price point.

4 2024 Audi Q8

Reliability Score: 74/100

There aren’t many full-size SUVs that are quite as stylish or sporty looking as the Audi Q8. The Q8 sits at the top of the Audi SUV lineup and is a sleeker version of the Q7. It has gone through a refresh for the 2024 model year and has a redesigned front and rear end, features new choices of paint, and now comes with optional matrix-beam LED headlights.

Reliability

Despite its updates, it remains mechanically the same as the outgoing 2023 model. Hence, you can safely work off of J.D. Power’s 74 out of 100 score for quality and reliability, which it gave the 2023 Q8. In terms of maintenance, CarEdge claims that the Q8 is significantly cheaper to maintain than its rivals in the luxury SUV segment, beating them by $3,163 over the first 10 years of ownership. It has a 36.25% chance of needing a major repair in the same period, which is a little better than its rivals too.

  • Average Yearly Maintenance Cost: $686 (CarEdge)
  • Est. Maintenance Cost During The First 10 Years: $12,551 (CarEdge)
  • Total Recalls: 1
  • Worst Q8 Year To Buy Used: 2019

The Audi Q8 comes in a ton of different forms, some hybrids and some fully electric. In its base form, the Q8 is a sporty-feeling SUV that delivers exciting handling and decent power. The RS Q8 turns it up a notch and swaps the V-6 out for a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 that produces a whopping 591 horsepower. The e-Tron, on the other hand, uses two electric motors to pump out 355 horsepower and 414 pound-feet of torque while also being way more eco-friendly than even the gas-chugging base Q8.

The interior of every Q8 is finely crafted and sophisticated. Expect every creature comfort that you could possibly imagine and add on some more, and you would have the Q8. From massaging front seats to a leather dashboard to air suspension, the Q8 oozes comfort. It also has plenty of room for you and your passengers, with both the front and the back seats having tons of space for everyone to stretch out.

3 2024 Audi Q5

Reliability Score: 75/100

Side Profile Audi Q5 55 TFSI eQuattro

Audi has always been the more raucous sibling in the big three compared to BMW and Mercedes, with their cars being a little more raw and fun. However, the Audi Q5 loses this a bit. It is a brilliant all-rounder and features tons of tech, impressive levels of comfort, and a generous amount of space. It just isn’t as exciting as some of its stablemates.

Reliability

The Q5 may not be the most reliable luxury SUV, with a score of 75 out of 100 according to J.D. Power, but it does have a unique advantage in that it’s a lot cheaper to maintain. CarEdge claims that it is $3,646 cheaper to maintain in its first 10 years of ownership than other luxury SUVs. The Q5 does, however, have a recall issued, which targets plug-in hybrid or electric models due to the charger cable causing some household outlets to overheat.

  • Average Yearly Maintenance Cost: $928 (RepairPal)
  • Est. Maintenance Cost During The First 10 Years: $12,068 (CarEdge)
  • Total Recalls: 1
  • Worst Q5 Year To Buy Used: 2012

As you can see, the base model Q5 is not quite as sporty as some of its competitors. However, the Q5 also has a more powerful S version which offers more horsepower and torque. However, it still doesn’t make the Q5 a particularly exciting drive. For the most power, the plug-in hybrid offers much quicker acceleration and a more enticing package to boot; just watch out for that charging cable.

While performance might not be the star of the show in the 2024 Audi Q5, its spacious and luxe interior definitely is. With tons of high-quality materials and a brilliantly designed layout, the Q5 is easy to use, and feels more premium than its price tag. This all helps it tackle its key rivals. Audi’s virtual cockpit digital gauge cluster represents the high level of technology on the interior. The Q5 also comes in a sportback version which sacrifices some rear headroom and cargo space for a sleeker design.

2 2024 Audi Q7

Reliability Score: 78/100

If you’re looking for a high-end three-row SUV, few offer the amount of tech and the level of comfort that you get in the spacious Audi Q7. It takes the stunning A6 sedan and plops all the best parts of it into a bigger and more practical body. The Q7, like much of the Audi stable, gains adaptive cruise control and remote start via your smartphone for the 2024 model year.

Reliability

The Q7 gets a 78 out of 100 for reliability and quality according to J.D. Power, which moves it to the higher end of ‘average’. It may have a higher average yearly maintenance cost than some of the other cars on this list, but CarEdge still claims that it’s $3,225 cheaper to maintain in the first 10 years than other luxury SUVs. There is a single recall on the 2024 Audi Q7 for an issue with the side/window airbags.

  • Average Yearly Maintenance Cost: $1185 (RepairPal)
  • Est. Maintenance Cost During The First 10 Years: $12,489 (CarEdge)
  • Total Recalls: 1

The Audi Q7 is first and foremost a family car and this means that it isn’t going to be the sportiest car you can buy. That being said, it handles pretty decently, especially when you get the sportier SQ7 model. The base powertrain is a mild-hybrid inline-four, but if you’re looking for some extra power, the turbocharged V-6 offers some impressive acceleration.

Audi continues the trend of offering tech above its asking price with the Q7. It matches this plethora of features with a surprisingly minimalist design, which accentuates the premium feel of the interior. Compared to its key rivals, its cargo space, and its third-row legroom is impressive. In a lot of ways, the Q7 manages to tick a lot of boxes in that it suits families, is a little sporty, and has a luxe interior that very few will beat.

Reliability Score: 81/100

If you’re looking for the Audi SUV with the highest reliability, you’ve found it with the 2024 Audi Q3. The Q3 is impressive in a lot of ways. Despite being the cheapest and the smallest Audi SUV, there is no compromise on the interior, with things still having the signature Audi DNA, and enough interior room to offer its occupants good comfort. With a starting MSRP of $37,400, this accessible SUV can offer luxury to the masses.

Reliability

As well as being the most reliable Audi SUV, with a reliability and quality score of 81 out of 100 according to J.D. Power, it is also one of the cheapest Audis to own and maintain. Over ten years of ownership, you will be paying significantly less than you would if you owned most other luxury SUVs on the market. There are no recalls out for the 2024 Q3 and there are impressively few complaints from past owners.

  • Average Yearly Maintenance Cost: $915 (RepairPal)
  • Est. Maintenance Cost During The First 10 Years: $11,843 (CarEdge)
  • Total Recalls: 0

The 2024 Q3 is definitely not the sportiest Audi that you can buy. There are two powertrain choices, with the 45 TSFI being the most powerful, and neither feels particularly quick. However, its ride and its transmission shine, with it being smooth and comfortable to operate.

In essentially every way, the Audi Q3 is a shrunk-down Q5. While its price tag is much lower, if you’re not too concerned about the smaller size of this subcompact, you will be treated to an interior that feels much more expensive than you paid for. The interior design is elegant and modern and tons of tech will satisfy the needs of just about everyone, especially because it’s so intuitive to use. The Q3 is a brilliant value proposition and a great entry point into the luxury SUV market.
