Electricity is the fuel of the future when it comes to automobiles, but motorcycles are having a bit of a rough time adopting it because of how sensitive they are to additional weight compared to cars. It’s the fault of those heavy batteries and electric motors – so far, most electric bikes negate their fantastic torque with either weight that blunts performance, or range that makes them only usable as city runabouts. However, there exists a small subsegment of electric sports bikes that throw caution to the wind and give you thrills not even a gas-powered bike can match.
If that sounds interesting to you, the list below is specifically made for you. It includes the 10 most powerful electric bikes you can purchase in 2024. As a pre-requisite, you should know we’ve focused on motorcycles that tilt towards fun and speed (and preferably way over to the side) to qualify for this list. While most of these have fairings (the topic is sports bikes after all), others have unique designs blended with crazy performance.
To ensure accuracy, the information compiled in this article was sourced from the manufacturers, as well as other authoritative sources such as Visordown.com, Motorcycle.com, Motorcyclenews.com, and Cycleworld.com. The motorcycles on this list have been arranged by power figure, from the lowest to the highest.
10 Electric Motorcycles With The Best Range
These electric motorcycles offer such impressive range, you will simply forget about range anxiety
10 Kawasaki Ninja e-1
Peak Power: 6.7 horsepower
We’re starting with a really small sports bike from Kawasaki, the manufacturer well known for making the highest-output production motorcycle engine. The Ninja e-1 is based on the Ninja 400 (not to be mistaken with the ZX-4R) and looks identical to the popular ICE bike. It makes a case for itself as a great first motorcycle or a city runabout with its low seat height and curb weight, great baby Ninja handling, simple air-cooled motor, and reverse assist like you’d find on a Gold Wing.

9 Tarform Luna
Peak Power: 75 horsepower
The Tarform Luna looks as unique as the Verge TS Ultra, and that is by design (pun unintended). Tarform’s aim when creating its products was to make motorcycles that looked good enough to be considered art and make them from natural materials that lent themselves well to recycling. They’ve achieved the former, judging by the fact that an example is on display at the Queensland Gallery of Modern Art. And they achieved the latter by using materials like flaxseed weave, biobased resin, and algae carbon for color. Among its more conventional features are a high-res display, keyless ignition via a smartwatch-type authenticator, regenerative braking, billet brake calipers, Ohlins suspension, and OTA updates. Oh, and we know this doesn’t have a fairing, but it’s still quite sporty. That’s why it’s here.

8 Zero SR/S
Peak Power: 110 horsepower
Zero’s SR/S might seem a little long in the tooth now, but don’t think it isn’t a quality product. Suspension by Showa, stability control by Bosch, brakes by Brembo-owned J.Juan, and Pirelli Diablo Rosso 3 tires all indicate its high-level specifications. 187 miles of range is quite good, too, and Zero also has the option of a ‘Power Tank’, giving you roughly 20% more range. Over the years, it has acquired more features and now boasts regenerative braking, ride modes, traction control, fully adjustable suspension, and Park Assist for creeping forward or backward in the parking lot.

Fastest Electric Motorcycles On The Market
These electric motorcycles are efficient, eco-friendly, and shockingly fast
7 Arc Vector
Peak Power: 117 horsepower
The Arc Vector looks like a spaceship among its electric brethren. This is in part due to the nature of the front fairing that seems hollowed out to accommodate the handlebars, and of course, there is the small matter of the hub-center steering. What can’t be seen is the rest of it; the carbon fiber monocoque frame, the quick charging times, and the quite literally unlimited options list. To put it into perspective, you can choose from one of two wheel designs (both carbon fiber), you can have any kind of Brembo pads for your brakes, the Ohlins shocks can have either black or yellow springs, and there are over 100 colors on offer in the brochure. Oh, and you can have a one-off Vector with whatever you want on it cosmetically.

6 Davinci DC100
Peak Power: 135 horsepower
The Davinci DC100 is quite like the Verge TS Ultra; it doesn’t have a traditional sport bike fairing for the headlamps but everything else about it suggests the supersport mentality. The rider triangle seems relaxed for the legs, but the reach to the handlebars seems surprisingly long. The DC100 might not have the massive power of some of the other products here, but it sure has some very interesting features you’d expect on flagship sports bikes. It can self-balance and has electric power steering, as a result of which it can do a Tesla and follow another vehicle without any rider intervention. Among Davinci’s future updates are a self-parking feature and opening the API so that third-party developers can design new features for the DC100. Pretty futuristic, right?

5 Energica Ego+ RS
A lot of superlatives come to mind when we talk about the Energica Ego. It was shown to the world 11 years ago, and by then, it had proven itself in racing already. Since then, it has improved, and until recently it was the sole supplier of the MotoE motorcycles (MotoGP’s all-electric racing series). The styling might not be to everyone’s liking, with the steampunk/Transformers-inspired headlamp section and the strangely vertical offset rear shock standing out, but what one can’t deny is the pedigree of the Ego. The Ego+ RS uses a short final drive and reprogrammed VCU to slingshot it from 0-60MPH in 2.6 seconds, 0.2 seconds quicker than a standard Ego. That’s a number not even your liter-class beasts can manage!

10 New 2024 Electric Motorcycles, Ranked By Power
There’s now an electric motorcycle for everyone.
4 Lightning Strike R
Peak Power: 180 horsepower
If you’re the kind that likes the purity of a 600cc supersport over a 1000cc monster, the Strike R is the motorcycle you should choose. It doesn’t have the crazy stats of its elder sibling (more on that in a bit), but it certainly is plenty enough for mere mortals. 180 horsepower, 120 foot-pounds, a top speed of 160 miles per hour, and the racing pedigree that the brand brings to the table are all great reasons to put a Strike in your garage. Currently, Lightning has focused only on supersport models, so you know they’re going to be good. Finally, a combined range of nearly 300 miles and ultra-fast charging mean that the only thing you might miss about a gas guzzler is the noise.

3 Damon Hypersport Premier
Peak Power: 200 horsepower
The Damon Hypersport Premier is the Canadian company’s flagship motorcycle, and its favorite number is ‘200’. That is how much horsepower it has, how much torque it has (in Newton meters), its maximum range, and its top speed. It has a few other fascinating features as well – the handlebars and footpegs can be moved on the go so you can choose a more aggressive riding position for the racetrack or a more upright position for city riding. It also promises the safest experience on a motorcycle, with an electronics suite that other manufacturers seem to be learning from. The Hypersport Premier will, for example, give you haptic feedback via vibrations in the handlebar to warn you of someone in your blind spot. At heart, though, it’s simply one of the quickest electric bikes on the market.

2 Verge TS Ultra
Peak Power: 201 horsepower
Verge is an interesting firm, with the TS Ultra as its flagship product. It boasts the most interesting design here, thanks to its hubless rear rim. It doesn’t have a fairing on the front, but the sides are optimized for airflow – something that Verge would have picked up from a certain Mike Hakkinen (the ex-F1 driver who was involved in the design stage). It has a max torque figure that any muscle car would shy away from, OTA updates, and Artificial Intelligence tech (called ‘StarMatter’) that helps it up the safety quotient, not unlike Damon’s system. A cool name for an undoubtedly cool motorcycle, especially if you are a fan of Tron.

10 New Electric Motorcycles To Look Out For In 2024
Electric motorcycles are growing more popular year after year, and 2024 promises a lot of exciting models.
1 Lightning LS-218
Peak Power: 244 horsepower
How much can one wax eloquent about the Lightning LS-218? When it launched in 2015, it shattered a number of records, and not just for electric motorcycles. It also left ICE bikes chasing it in the world of motorsport. It remains the fastest road-legal production motorcycle to this day, and all Lightning has done is focus on reducing battery weight and charge times, and increasing range. With the current highest capacity battery, you can eke out a massive 335 miles before you need to charge the motorcycle. And if you twist the throttle on an endless straight road, you’ll see 218 miles an hour on its digital speedo.
