Key features:

12-inch centre stack screen largest in segment

A large wheel selection with customization options

New ST-Line with the blacked-out ST looks (but without the ST power)

First introduced in 2007, the Edge mid-size SUV (though on the smaller side compared to others in the segment) is, in some ways, a giant Escape on steroids, yet not quite the family hauler you get with the mid-size Explorer. But this SUV is tech-savvy and sets itself apart with the Edge ST — a 335-hp performance-minded utility vehicle with a burly 2.7L DOHC 24-valve EcoBoost V6 under the hood. For 2023, the Edge got minor updates, including a new ST Interior Appearance Package.

The 2024 Ford Edge remains mostly unchanged in its final year before discontinuation, retaining the 2.0L turbocharged engine for standard trims and the more powerful 2.7L V6 for the ST model. It continues to offer spacious interiors and advanced safety features as part of the Ford Co-Pilot360 suite. Performance-wise, the Edge provides robust acceleration, especially in the ST version, despite its age compared to newer rivals.

Key features:

Explorer ST packs 400-hp and 415 lb.-ft of torque

Explorer Timberline is rugged and truly built for adventure

Some 2025 models introduce BlueCruise for the first time

Like the Escape, the Explorer is an OG in the SUV segment. The mid-size hauler is the all-time best-selling SUV across North America; frankly, it keeps getting better in all the right ways. For 2025, the Explorer gains updated models with redesigned interiors, more tech, tweaked styling updates, and Ford BlueCruise (hands-free driving tech) for the Explorer ST-Line, Platinum, and sporty ST variants.

The Explorer was completely redesigned in 2020, adding the first-ever Explorer ST packing 400-hp 415 lb.-ft. of torque thanks to Ford’s specially tuned 3.0L EcoBoost engine, which, when equipped with the Class III Trailer Tow Package, will tow up to 5,600 pounds — compared to the standard 2.3L EcoBoost’s 5,300 pounds towing capacity. Also new was the Explorer Timberline introduced in 2021: a more rugged version sporting steel skid plates, higher ground clearance, and improved towing.

Major 2025 refresh with Lincoln-inspired interior

Timberline off-road model with F-150 Raptor’s skid plate

New driver-assist and connected technologies

Ford’s flagship SUV is also its most prominent, and like the Explorer, this full-size 3-row SUV keeps improving. For 2022, the Expedition gained the burlier Timberline model, making it the most off-road-capable Expedition ever. It adds a heavy-duty underbody skid plate from the F-150 Raptor alongside other performance upgrades.

The 2025 Ford Expedition introduces a luxurious interior redesign inspired by the redesigned 2024 Lincoln Nautilus, featuring a coast-to-coast screen and an enhanced centre stack screen. Exterior updates include mid-cycle facelifts, focusing on interior enhancements for a more premium experience. This refresh aims to bolster the Expedition’s appeal with significant interior and exterior updates, maintaining its stature as a spacious and capable full-size SUV while integrating advanced technology features like Ford’s SYNC 4 and optional BlueCruise for enhanced driving convenience.

Key features:

Sasquatch Package now expands 7-speed manual transmission offerings

Possible PHEV version for 2025

Up to seven driver-selectable modes and two available 4×4 systems

Available in either a 2- or 4-door body style across several different models, plus the beefed-up Sasquatch Package, there’s pretty much a Ford Bronco for everyone (and we’re not talking the small Bronco Sport here). Add two powertrain options to the full-size Bronco mix, including the base 275-hp 2.3L I-4 EcoBoost or optional 315-hp 2.7L EcoBoost V6 — premium fuel improves power to 300-hp and 330-hp, respectively. The 10-speed automatic transmission is standard, while Ford did the right thing and offers the larger EcoBoost mill with a 7-speed manual stick shift. Nice.

The 2023 Bronco added a couple of colours (Azure Gray Metallic Tri-Coat and Robin’s Egg Blue), plus the two-tone Bronco Heritage models with Oxford White accents, including the modular hardtop roof. For 2025, the Ford Bronco maintains its rugged charm, focusing on enhanced comfort and an upgraded infotainment system. Under the hood, it offers a 2.3L turbo-four engine with manual or automatic transmission options alongside a more powerful V6 option. The Bronco Raptor has a 3.0L twin-turbo V6, delivering impressive power and off-road capability. Additionally, rumors suggest a PHEV version is in the works, promising improved fuel efficiency and a boost in performance.
