This is where the Ranger Raptor Assault School comes in. A short drive from the Ford Performance Center in Tooele, Valley, Utah, which is only one of two facilities in the country, the Ranger Raptor Assault School home base is easy to miss just off the highway. But that’s precisely the point: an unassuming location surrounded by beautiful snow-capped mountains, a variety of rocky terrain, and plenty of dirt.
It’s a playground and, more importantly, an opportunity for Ford Ranger Raptor customers to learn the truck’s true capabilities out in the wild, led by expert guidance from off-road driving pros.
One-day instruction is included in the cost of the truck
The Ranger Raptor Assault School is a one-day instruction session designed exclusively for the Ranger Raptor and only open to customers. The program cost is included with the purchase of the truck, but customers are responsible for their expenses, including flight and accommodation (meals are included).
Ford Performance’s general manager states, “Our goal is for owners, whether novices or off-road veterans, to experience the full capability of Ranger Raptor and get a true understanding of the passion and attention to detail that Ford engineers put into developing it.”

The session includes both classroom instruction and off-road lessons. The best part? You can leave your Ranger Raptor at home because you’ll be jumping and rock-bashing with one provided by Ford, plus all safety gear for the day.
Every aspect of the new Ranger Raptor is put to the test. From rock crawling and side hilling to off-roading, descending, and braking, the Ford Performance engineering team not only instills confidence and off-road skills but also allows customers to understand the advanced technology and features behind it all.

Experiencing the new off-road features and advanced technology
These off-road features include the Ranger Raptor’s Drive Modes (including Off-Road, Rock Crawl, and Baja) utilized on the rough terrain and Hill Descent Control, essentially a traction control system with cruise control functionality when climbing down tricky paths. All made possible by the Raptor-exclusive 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 engine, unavailable with all other 2024 Ranger grades including XL, XLT, and Lariat.
We were treated to a condensed, half-day session before the Ranger Raptor Assault School doors officially open in June. Our activities included a short loop handling course where we toggled between various locking differential variations and drive modes, getting a sense of the wheels rotating at different speeds (i.e., Off-Road mode with lockers enabled, Baja mode with front and rear differentials off). Followed by a long drive through the Utah desert with plenty of rock crawling. Plus, a chance to jump this thing. Now that alone is worth the journey.
