Infiniti aims to shake up the full-size luxury SUV segment with the all-new and completely redesigned 2025 QX80. A huge departure from the outgoing model, the most notable changes are, well, everywhere. Gone is the dated Infiniti design cues of the last decade, with an all-new front end with sleek lights, a completely restructured grille, and the same blocky body the QX80 is known for ushering in the new generation. Of particular note, there more modern with more glass than ever before, however.
The new design isn’t the only thing that the QX80 ushers in for a new generation, either. The QX80 features the most luxurious and advanced interior the brand has ever put into production, while a potent, twin-turbo V-6 engine replaces that dated 5.6-liter V-8. The QX80 will be offered in four different trims at launch with the starting price jumping to just north of $80,000 for the entry-level model, and the range-topping model breaking the $110,000 barrier.
An All-New But Also Familiar Design
The QX80’s design embraces Infiniti’s latest “Artistry in Motion” philosophy with a powerful, confident and bold persona. According to Infiniti, the signature double-arch grille and LED lighting elements evoke natural shapes like bamboo forests and tranquil reflections on water. One thing is for sure, the QX80’s front end is a huge departure from the outgoing model. Flush automatic door handles extend outward in a welcoming gesture upon approach, while an available “light path” projects dramatic wing patterns onto the ground on either side.
Most of the new QX80 will look quite familiar at a glance, with the boxy shape continuing to make a bold statement in a world where sportback SUVs seem to have found a fair amount of love. The rear end does emphasize the QX80’s blocky nature, but the taillights really make the rear end stand out with the perception of unlimited depth.

A Luxurious And Technologically Advanced Interior
The interior of the QX80 is defined by two different aspects, the first being the utterly lavish (even in images) soft-touch materials, open-pore ash wood trims with laser-etched inlays, and available semi-aniline leather seats with intricate hand-finished stitching. Twin high-resolution displays serve as the digital instrument cluster and infotainment touchscreen running the latest Infiniti InTouch system with Google built-in.
Technological innovations focus on enriching the luxury experience by predicting needs and removing friction from everyday driving scenarios. There’s even a “Biometric Cooling system” that can detect when a second-row passenger feels warm and automatically directs cooling airflow toward them 50% faster than standard climate controls.
New driver aids include two different camera views to help navigate tight parking situations along with the Front Wide View displays that give you a high-res wide angle view across to help you see and navigate around corners or past obstructions. Invisible Hood View projects a camera view underneath the vehicle’s hood to easily spot curbs, car wash tracks, and other low obstacles.
Cargo capacity has not be revealed quite yet, but there is seating for 7 in the standard configuration or you can opt for a second-row bench to carry around up to 8 people. Total passenger space comes in at 1,611 cubic-feet.

2024 Infiniti QX80: Smaller Engine, Bigger Power
The 5.6-liter V-8 from the outgoing model has been effectively scrapped to make way for a new 3.5-liter V-6 that delivers 450 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. If this is sad news for you, you might want to think again, as that accounts for an improvement of 50 horsepower and 103 pound-feet of torque over the outgoing model. Not to mention the fact that this engine is, at least in some way, related to the V-6 in Godzilla itself, the NIssan GT-R. Despite the smaller engine, the new QX80 is still able to match the outgoing model’s towing capacity of 8,500 pounds. Curb weight, fuel economy, and gross vehicle weight ratings have not been revealed.
As was the case with the last-gen QX80, the new model is a body-on-frame SUV. An optional electronic air suspension system will give you the ability to adjust your ride height by nearly three inches for easy ingress and egress, while the dynamic digital suspension system will adapt on the fly to make usual rough spots on the road smooth inside the cabin.
