The Taycan Turbo GT Can Sprint To 60 MPH In 2.1 Seconds


Like the Taycan Turbo S, the Turbo GT models (without and with the Weissach package) have a dual motor setup. However, the rear electric motor on the Turbo GT is equipped with a more powerful pulse inverter. The result is a base power output of 777 horsepower, an increase of 13 horsepower over the Turbo S. Switching on the launch control mode dials things up a notch, taking the total system output to 1,019 horsepower or up to 1,092 horsepower for two seconds.

A higher power output means the Taycan Turbo GT can sprint from a standstill to 60 mph in 2.2 seconds. The 60 mph time is 2.1 seconds on the Taycan Turbo GT with the Weissach package, two-tenths of a second quicker than the Turbo S. The Turbo GT can clock a top speed of 180 mph, while the Weissach package takes it up to 190 mph.

The more powerful pulse inverter on the Turbo GT models sends 900 amps of maximum current to the rear axle, 300 amps more than the pulse inverter used in the Turbo S. This helps increase the power and torque outputs, the latter of which now stands at 988 pound-feet. Porsche has reworked the gear ratios and strengthened the Taycan GT’s two-speed transmission to handle this performance increase.


160 Horsepower Boost With The Attack Mode

Porsche has taken a few measures to reduce the weight of the Taycan Turbo GT. Though the weight-saving measures on the Turbo GT without the Weissach package aren’t as extreme as the one with the package (more on that later), it still shaves off a few pounds compared to the Turbo S.

Lightweight Wheels, Brakes, And Porsche’s Active Ride Suspension

The Taycan Turbo GT has high-performance summer tires wrapped around 21-inch lightweight forged wheels. The wheels have specially designed spokes that help save weight and aid in better brake ventilation. Porsche has also optimized its Active Ride suspension for the Turbo GT with specific tuning.

The exterior styling of the Taycan Turbo GT is similar to that of the standard Taycan models. However, a handful of changes make it look sportier. The Turbo GT comes with a few aerodynamic upgrades as well. The charge port door on the driver’s side has been removed. The passenger side port remains, but it is operated manually. The electric soft close function of the trunk lid has also been done away with. The Turbo GT with the Weissach package uses lighter window glass and removes the Bose sound system and rear speakers.
