Late last year, Royal Enfield surprised us all with its second middleweight cruiser. Called the Shotgun 650, it promised to be a funky sibling to the mature Super Meteor 650, taking heavy inspiration from the much-lauded SG650 concept bike shown a few years back. To no one’s surprise, the cruiser generated the right kind of buzz and made all of us wonder when it’d be here. That’s finally happened now, as RE has launched its newest cruiser in the States.

The 2024 Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 Starts From $6,899
Royal Enfield has priced the Shotgun at a starting price of $6,899. This is $100 cheaper than the Super Meteor 650. More importantly, the MSRP positions the cruiser just $400 above the Honda Rebel 500, $250 over the Kawasaki Eliminator, and a sizable $450 under the Kawasaki Vulcan S. That’s a good place to be in, especially considering the 650 has an unmatched charm over its rivals.
You can have the Shotgun 650 in four colorways, namely: Sheet Metal Black, Drill Green, Plasma Blue, and Stencil White. Each of these comes at a different price, given the dual-tone nature and bespoke graphics of the last three. Full pricing is given below:

A Funky Bobber Aesthetic Sets The Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 Apart In The Segment
So what all do you get for the money? For starters, a distinct aesthetic. RE has gone with the modernized bobber approach here, evident from the peanut-shaped tank, single-piece saddle, and wide rear fender. We also love the attention to detail, which includes bar-end mirrors, 10-spoke alloy wheels, pea-shooter exhausts, and all-black engine casings. Yes, there’s no chrome here (on any colorway); surprising from RE, right?
The Shotgun does a decent job in the feature department, too. It spoils you with:

Coming to mechanicals, most of it is drawn from the Super Meteor 650. You get RE’s popular 648cc, parallel-twin engine that’s good for 47 horsepower and 38.5 pound-feet. The mill is a peach to live with and doesn’t feel boring at any point, as we experienced on the Continental GT 650. A six-speed transmission sends the power to the wheel via a chain drive.
Nestling the engine is a double-cradle steel chassis. It suspends on Showa USD forks and dual rear shocks, partnered with 18/17-inch wheels (unlike the SM 650’s 19/16 combo). Like the suspension, the brakes come from the SM as well. You can check other key dimensions below:
