Land Rover’s first electric SUV is being benchmarked next to non-other than the legendary Defender during some cold-weather testing in Lapland

This article covers a developing story. Continue to check back with us as we will be adding more information as it becomes available.

As is the case with the rest of the automotive industry, Jaguar Land Rover is busy putting together an all-electric lineup that will lead it into the future. It all started with the Jaguar i-Pace, though Land Rover — as a brand — has yet to reveal its first EV. 2025 will be the year, though, and our spy photographers have managed to catch an early prototype putting in some work in Lapland where it appears that engineers are benchmarking it against the Land Rover Defender.

What We Know About The 2025 Land Rover Electric SUV

Land Rover’s first all-electric SUV will be planted firmly in the midsize segment and will ride on JLR’s new Electric Modular Architecture (EMA). This is the same architecture that will give birth to an electric Range Rover Evoque and an electric Land Rover Discovery Sport. As of the time of this writing, Jaguar Land Rover is busy converting its production plant in Halewood UK into an EV production center and is expected to be finished before the end of 2024. With a reveal date in 2025, the first Land Rover electric SUV should go into production sometime in mid-2025 at the latest.
