If you like class-leading safety for your precious head, we have some good news for you. Leading Italian brand AGV has just unveiled the new Pista GP RR Ghiaccio helmet for 2024. It’s a limited edition version of the already exclusive GP RR used vastly across motorcycle racing paddocks (MotoGP, WSBK, BSB, MotoAmerica). What makes this special, you ask? Read on to find out.

HJC’s comfy, well-vented i10 helmet offers exceptional value with a track-day Snell rating.
The AGV Pista GP RR Ghiaccio Has A Raw Carbon Finish
Ghiaccio means ‘ice’ in Italian, and it’s a fitting name. The helmet has a raw carbon finish, topped with an exclusive silver-green finish. This creates an ice-like texture no matter which angle you look from. What adds a pinch of contrast is the white accents on the intake and exhaust vents at the front and back of the helmet. Together, all this makes it the perfect ‘sleeper’ helmet. Whoever looks at it close will know just how special this is, but everything looks normal from afar.
The Shell Is Carved From 100 Percent Carbon
Diving deeper, the Ghiaccio has a 100 percent carbon fiber shell. It’s carved from the same technology as AGV’s flagship helmet used in the MotoGP World Championship (worn by big names like Marco Bezzechhi, Joan Mir, and Franco Morbidelli). The shell shape is exactly the same, too, guaranteeing excellent stability at high speeds. You can pick between four shell sizes to find the perfect fit for your head.
AGV explains, “Meticulously crafted for optimal performance, the Extreme Carbon shell, composed of 100% carbon fiber, ensures exceptional lightness for effortless wear. Its shapes and metal air vents undergo thorough wind tunnel analysis and testing by AGV athletes to guarantee optimal aerodynamic penetration and superior stability at high speeds, facilitated by the innovative profile of the rear PRO Spoiler.”
The AGV Pista GP RR Ghiaccio Has Top-Quality Components Elsewhere
Like the shell, the Ghiaccio also has top-quality MotoGP-derived components elsewhere. It comes equipped with a five mm-thick optical class 1 Ultravision visor that’s good for a 190-degree horizontal field of view (and 85-degree vertically). This is topped by AGV’s 360-degree Adaptive Fit system. It allows you to fine tune the three-piece “crown” padding for a customized fit.
Finally, cutting-edge safety rarely comes cheap, and the Ghiaccio is no exception. AGV has priced the helmet at $1,925, which is $326 pricier than the standard Mono Glossy Carbon Pista GP RR. At this price, it’s also pricier than its rivals like the Shoei X-15, HJC RPHA 1, and the newly unveiled Alpinestars Supertech R-10. What will make you feel (slightly) better about the expenditure is the hydration system detachable spoiler, tear-offs, and vent covers, all sold with the helmet.
