Back in 2021, Husqvarna pulled the plug on its impressive Svartpilen and Vitpilen 701 duo. Since then, we haven’t had an over-500cc naked from the brand, even though the middleweight market is hotter than ever. But now, we finally have some light at the end of the tunnel. The Swedish bikemaker has teased its bigger Svartpilen and Vitpilen duo on social media, confirming some juicy details. In case you forgot, these Huskies have been spotted testing repeatedly since early 2023.

Like the 401s, the Svartpilen and Vitpilen 250 have also gone under the knife.
The Upcoming Husqvarna Svartpilen And Vitpilen Will Feature A KTM-Derived Engine
The biggest talking point here is the new engine. Judging from the engine cases, we know the new Svartpilen and Vitpilen will feature the KTM-derived 889cc twin-cylinder powerhouse. It will be the same engine already present on the Norden 901 but in a different tune identical to the 890 Duke. The Duke produces 119 horsepower and 73 pound-feet, for your reference. The key difference between the KTM and the Husqvarna duo would be the new two-into-one slash-cut exhaust. We can clearly see the pipe in the teaser video, and the mesh design is undeniably cool on the Svartpilen!
Like the engine, we can also see the underpinnings. Beefy 43 mm WP Apex forks and monoshock provide the suspension duties, while there’s a KTM-like aluminum swingarm outback. It won’t be a surprise if the trellis chassis is identical too (if not the same). Interestingly, the Svartpilen and Vitpilen duo will switch to alloy wheels in their new avatar–a stark difference from the previous, retro spoke wheel setup.

Design And Features Updates Will Also Be Present On The Upcoming Husqvarna Svartpilen And Vitpilen
Design-wise, the duo follows the aesthetic approach debuted by the new Svartpilen and Vitpilen 401. There’s a round LED headlight up top, flanked by a minimalistic fender and beefy radiator shrouds. This is topped by a new fuel tank, with perky protrusions that extend to the forks. A closer look also reveals a TFT instrument cluster, identical to what we see on the KTM 990 Duke. Since the 401s are quite feature-packed themselves, it’s a no-brainer the 901s would follow the same path. Some of the standard features include:
- All-LED lights
- Traction control
- Cornering ABS
- Ride modes
- Quickshifter
- Smartphone connectivity
