Benelli TRK 702 Goes On Sale In America At An Astonishing Price


  • The Benelli TRK 702 employs a 698cc, twin-cylinder engine that’s more powerful than its 650cc rivals.
  • It offers a range of features including LED lights, TFT instrument cluster, USB sockets, smartphone connectivity, and dual-channel ABS.

As we reported in December 2023, Benelli has big plans for the North American market in 2024. The Chinese-owned Italian bikemaker will ditch third-party importers for the first time and handle distribution in-house via its parent company Keeway Group. Building in the same direction, the company has now launched the 2024 TRK 702 here. It competes in the populated middleweight adventure segment but stands out with a strong MSRP.

The Benelli TRK 702 Has 70 Horsepower And 51.6 Pound-Feet

The TRK 702 employs a 698cc, twin-cylinder powerhouse, armed with liquid cooling and an 11.6:1 compression ratio. As a result, it churns out 70 horsepower and 51.6 pound-feet via a six-speed transmission. At this output, the 702 is more powerful than its rivals like the Suzuki V-Strom 650, Kawasaki Versys 650, and the Moto Morini X-Cape 650. However, the Triumph Tiger 660 and Suzuki V-Strom 800 remain at arm’s length.

You should also know the European-spec TRK produces five ponies more than the American version. We don’t know why there’s a discrepancy, but the extra power could’ve given the ADV an even better fighting chance. The torque is the same between the two versions, though.

Nestling the engine is a steel trellis chassis. It relies on 50 mm upside-down forks and a monoshock for suspension duties, each tied up with 17-inch alloy wheels. Braking is via twin 320 mm rotors up top and a 260 mm disc out back, all with Benelli-branded calipers. In case you’re into off-road shenanigans, Benelli also has a TRK 702X. The X brings with it 19/17-inch spoke wheels, shod with off-road-biased Pirelli Scorpion STR tires. It also has an extra 0.8 inches of travel at the rear, which also boosts the ground clearance by 0.7 inches.

Benelli is preparing to take the fight to their rivals with the new Tornado 500 and Tornado Naked Twin 500

Benelli has priced the TRK 702 and 702X at $7,899 and $8,499, respectively. The former is available in three liveries–Anthracite Grey, Forest Green, and Pearl White–while the latter comes in Anthracite Grey, Forest Green, White, and Moon Grey. At this price, the 702 undercuts all of its rivals and even costs only a few hundred dollars more than the Honda CB500X.

Oh, and the 702 duo also pack a common set of features to justify the price. The list includes:

  • All-LED lights
  • Five-inch TFT instrument cluster
  • USB type-A and USB type-C sockets
  • Smartphone connectivity with phone controls
  • Backlit switchgear
  • Luggage rack
  • Center stand (only on the 702X)
  • Dual-channel ABS

The absence of rider aids might come as a bummer for some of you, though.
