Audi’s electric sports sedan has been recalled due to a manufacturing risk which may increase the risk of fire in its high-voltage battery.

Audi Australia has recalled 222 examples of its 2022-2023 Audi E-Tron GT due to a manufacturing fault in the high-voltage battery which may increase the risk of fire.

The recall notice, lodged with the Department of Infrastructure, says: “Due to a manufacturing issue, the sealing of the high-voltage battery housing may reduce overtime, allowing moisture to enter.

“The moisture may potentially result in an electrical short circuit increasing the risk of fire.

“A vehicle fire could increase the risk of injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users and/or damage to property.”

A full list of vehicle identification numbers for the 2215 vehicles involved in the recall can be found here.

Audi Australia advised it will contact owners of affected vehicles to make an appointment with their nearest authorised dealership so the high-voltage battery repairs can be carried out without charge.
