2024 Mazda CX-60 and CX-90 recalled due to steering fault

Mazda Australia has recalled 5257 examples of the 2024 Mazda CX-60 and CX-90 due to a manufacturing error that could cause the vehicle’s power steering system to malfunction.

The affected tally includes the 3758 Mazda CX-60 and CX-90 vehicles reported as sold – as well as vehicles in transit from the factory, and in dealer stock.

The recall notice, lodged with the Department of Infrastructure, says: “Due to a manufacturing defect, the gear set within the power steering assembly may not operate as intended.

“As a result, the driver could experience unexpected increased steering effort.

“An unexpected increased effort in power steering whilst driving could increase the risk of an accident causing injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users.

Mazda Australia has advised it will contact affected customers to advise them to present their vehicle to their preferred Mazda dealer to have the fuel hose replaced at no charge when parts become available.

A Mazda Australia spokesperson told Drive: “The difference between [the] sales figure is where the vehicles will be apportioned within the supply chain. For instance, some will have been wholesaled to dealers while others may be in transit relative to the production date.

“Regardless, every model yet to be retailed will have the update implemented prior to customer purchase.”
