For decades, most of Toyota’s efforts to reduce tailpipe emissions have circled hybrid and plug-in hybrid technologies. The company has occasionally experimented with zero-emission technologies, including battery electric cars and hydrogen cars. One such model in the past was an on-and-off Toyota RAV4 EV, which it offered in the first and third generations of the Toyota RAV4.
