Our version of the YZF-R9 takes inspiration from the YZF-R1
The rumors of a new Yamaha YZF-R9 have been circling for over three years now. But in the first days of 2024, the idea of Yamaha’s middleweight sport bike has gained a lot of traction. Not only did Young Machine–a leading Japanese publication–reveal some juicy details, but the company’s World SSP team manager unofficially confirmed the R9’s arrival recently.
So we thought it’d be a good idea to envision the upcoming beast, and that’s exactly what we asked our digital artist Rostislav Prokop to do. What you see here is an all-out track-spec render of the YZF-R9. It takes heavy inspiration from the flagship 200-HP YZF-R1, evident from the tank, clip-ons, triple-clamp, and bodywork. The fascia also has a familiar shape but without the R1’s dual projectors and central air intake.
What are your thoughts on the YZF-R9 render? Tell us in the comments.
