Back in September 2023, BMW surprised us with an overhauled middleweight adventure bike lineup. The F 850 GS, F 850 GS Adventure, and F 750 GS all went under the knife to birth the new F 900 GS, F 900 GS Adventure, and F 800 GS, respectively. Understandably, the ADVs made all the right headlines, even though there was little news about their American onslaught.
That has finally changed now, as the Bavarian giant has launched this new trio of GS models here. They all bear competitive MSRPs to take the much-populated middleweight ADV segment by storm. Here’s everything you need to know.

The 2024 BMW F 900 GS Starts From $13,495
BMW has priced the F 900 GS at $13,495–a $900 increment over the outgoing 2023 F 850 GS. At this price, the 900 GS is comfortably positioned in the middleweight segment, bang smack in between the premium Europeans and the affordable Japanese. It undercuts the KTM 890 Adventure R by $2,300 and the Triumph Tiger 900 Rally Pro by a whopping $3,900. Whereas, the Suzuki V-Strom 800DE and the Honda Transalp XL750 cost $1,900 and $3,500 less than the Beemer. You can have the F 900 GS in three versions, as explained below.

- Blackstorm Metallic: All-black livery with blacked-out spoke wheels
- Passion ($275 extra): São Paulo Yellow bodywork with red subframe
- GS Trophy ($545 extra): White/Red/Blue graphics, white subframe, golden rims, belly pan

The BMW F 900 GS Boasts More Power And Torque Than Its Predecessor
So what do you get for the money? For starters, a new 895cc, twin-cylinder engine (seen on the F 900 R) replaces the older 853cc powerhouse. It produces 105 horsepower and 68.6 pound-feet–a respectable 15 horsepower and five pound-feet up from the F 850 GS. The power reaches the wheel via a six-speed transmission, driven by a chain. This powerhouse is common between all three Beemers, although the F 800 GS has a de-tuned version (limited to 87 horsepower and 67 pound-feet).
BMW has also thrown in a few useful rider aids, such as:
- Ride modes (Rain/Road)
- Cornering ABS
- Dynamic Traction Control
Other than this, there’s no shortage of creature comforts. Heated grips, all-LED lights, USB socket, handguards, and adjustable foot levers are all standard among these, alongside a 6.5-inch TFT with smartphone connectivity. Next, underpinnings. The F 900 GS has an all-new tubular subframe, attached to top-shelf Showa upside-down forks and monoshock. Both ends are fully adjustable with increased travel over the 850 GS and work in tandem with cross-spoke wheels. Another notable highlight is the 900 GS’ 482-pound curb weight–a whopping 30 units less than its predecessor. Credit here goes to the new subframe, Akrapovic exhaust, and plastic tank. Braking, meanwhile, comprises twin 305 mm calipers up top and a single 265 mm disc outback.
While this Showa suspension is also present on the 900 GS Adventure, the F 800 GS continues to feature a conventional setup. It rides on 41 mm telescopic forks and a monoshock, partnered by 19/17-inch aluminum alloy wheels. Brakes remain common between the trio.
