2024 Skoda Octavia price and specs: Sportline added in model range U-turn

Skoda has performed a U-turn on the decision to bring the Octavia Sportline to Australia – but it is being offered a less powerful form than when the model was first mooted three years ago.

  • Sportline variant coming to Australia in less powerful form
  • Tweaked styling, sports suspension added
  • Priced from $42,490 drive-away

Three years after it was unveiled – and close to a year after plans for a local launch were scrapped – the 2024 Skoda Octavia Sportline has been added to the price list in Australia, ahead of showroom arrivals next month.

It was originally earmarked to replace the 140TSI Octavia Limited Edition, using its more powerful 140kW engine tune to bridge the gap between the 110kW entry models, and high-performance 180kW RS.

However after a series of delays, plans to sell the Sportline – which adds black-accented styling, unique interior trim, and sports suspension – were shelved by Skoda Australia as it would be priced too close to the RS.

Now the Sportline has been added to the range after all, but based on the less powerful Style model – for no extra cost, at $42,490 drive-away for the liftback, or $43,990 drive-away for the wagon.

It is $14,500 cheaper than the RS, which is the top seller in the range. Skoda Australia says the most popular variant outright is the RS wagon with every option box ticked.

Compared to the Style, the Sportline gains a gloss black finish for its grille, mirror caps, badges, rear spoiler (liftback only) and roof rails (wagon only), a black front lip spoiler, unique rear diffuser, matte black window surrounds, dual exhaust tips, and a Sportline badge on the front wheel arches.

Inside, the Sportline scores single-piece front sports seats, aluminium pedals, a Sportline-badged flat-bottomed sports steering wheel with paddle shifters, and black headlining.

Also added is 15mm-lower sports suspension, and a drive mode selector with a Sport setting.

It is powered by the Style’s 1.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine with 110kW and 250Nm, matched with an eight-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive.

Previously, the defunct Limited Edition combined a 140kW/320Nm 2.0-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox and front-wheel drive. The RS uses a 180kW/370Nm version of this engine.

Skoda Australia says there are no plans to re-introduce the 140TSI engine in the Sportline, or any other variant.

Carry-over features from the Style include 18-inch alloy wheels, matrix LED headlights, a 10.25-inch digital instrument display, a 10-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, dual-zone climate control, and more.

Sportline options include five- or seven-year service packs, $770 or $1170 premium paint, a $1900 panoramic sunroof for the wagon, and a $3200 Premium Pack for both body styles, adding features such as power-adjustable front seats, tri-zone climate control and lane centring.

The 2024 Skoda Octavia Sportline is available to order now ahead of showroom arrivals in late February.
