2024 Chevelle SS Could Make Another Run As Modern Muscle Car

Chevrolet released what is arguably the King of Muscle Cars back in 1970 with their LS6-powered Chevelle SS. While the Chevelle nameplate had a relatively short-lived existence stretching three generations from 1964 to 1977, the second-gen models that span ’68 to ’72, benchmark history with 2.4 million examples produced. Numbers that earned the Chevelle the title of “America’s Most Popular Mid-Size Car” and make it an obvious choice for a re-introduction as modern muscle. This exclusive render by TopSpeed’s digital artist Yasid Design envisions how Chevy’s reemergence of the model would show out as it came to the streets as a 2024 Chevelle. Evoking an aesthetic of what could be called a “CorMaro” – a Chevy Corvette/Camaro mashup – the 2024 Chevelle front end is strikingly similar to the contemporary Camaro. The lines flow back into the rear quarter panels imitating the widened hips, mostly vertical rear window, and long flat rear deck of the C3 Corvette contours. As the debatable Muscle Car King, a re-launch of the Chevy Chevelle wouldn’t be complete without high-level horsepower. If we imagine one of Chevy’s street-able, but track-worthy internal combustion engines are planted under the hood, we can already hear the growl of their 6.2-liter supercharged V-8. Creating 650 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque, which is currently found in the Camaro ZL1. This direct-injected LT4 could potentially be an instant match with a 2024 Chevy Chevelle.
