Benda Has Filed Certification Documents To NHTSA
The confirmation of Benda’s U.S. onslaught comes from none other than the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The bikemaker has filed certification documents to the American government body, explaining its Vehicle Identification Numbers (VIN). Its publication date is December 9, 2023, with the owner marked as Hangzhou Saturn Power Technology and the brand as ‘Benda’.
Diving deeper, the VIN codes include all kinds of motorcycles. Whether they’re two-stroke, four-stroke, liquid-cooled, air-cooled, or ranging from 50cc to 1,200cc–Benda has a code for everything. This suggests the company isn’t planning to ‘test the waters’, but simply take the United States of America by storm.
Benda Has An Interesting Lineup Of Motorcycles
If you’re wondering what all Benda could bring here, you’ll be happy to know there’s plenty to interest you. For starters, you might remember the LFC 700 we covered earlier this year. It employs a 680cc, inline-four powerhouse, which produces 93 horsepower and 46 pound-feet. The mill sits inside a carbon composite chassis, paired with beefy USD forks and monoshock.
Then, there’s the Dark Flag/Black Flag aka BD500. Its highlight is the unique 496cc, V4 engine (China’s first locally-built V4 engine) that pumps out 53.6 horsepower and 31 pound-feet. Another party trick is the inclusion of air suspension outback. It’s a never-seen-before element in the mid-capacity cruiser segment and can raise or drop the ride height in a jiffy. Having seen it in the flesh, we can confirm it’s as cool as it sounds. In addition, there are two V-twin cruisers too:
- Napolean 450 – an uber-retro bobber
- Chinchilla 450 – an urban neo-retro cruiser
Aside from the cruisers, the bikemaker also has the LFS 700 roadster. It boasts the same 680cc powerhouse as the LFC 700, but differs in the underpinnings and design departments. We’re talking about a new chassis and upgraded suspension, topped by a sporty streetfighter aesthetic.

Now that the filing process has already started, the Chinese bikemaker will enter America in 2024. An official announcement of its lineup and pricing should happen next year, followed by a quick dispatch. It’ll be interesting to see how Benda prices its unorthodox products and where it sets up shop. After all, these are two crucial factors in deciding a new company’s fate here.
