That’s because Harley-Davidson has issued a recall for the said cruiser due to a potential issue with its high-speed stability. To jog your memory, this is the American giant’s second recall in just two months. It had previously recalled both the new CVO models–Street Glide and Road Glide–courtesy of an issue with the rear brake clamp.

Harley-Davidson CVO Street Glides Can Become Unstable At Over 100MPH
As always, the recall notice comes via NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration). According to the filing, the 2023 FLHXSE (company code for the CVO Street Glide) is susceptible to instability at speeds of over 100 miles per hour. This is due to an extremely sensitive engine control module. Or, in Harley’s words, “On certain Model Year 2023 Street Glide CVO (FLHXSE) motorcycles, the overall combination of front end mass, stiffness, and inertia does not enable the desired vehicle performance at speeds greater than 100 mph.”
Though there have been no known accidents based on the highlighted issue, H-D suggests “if the operator does not follow the guidance outlined in the owner’s manual (i.e., to reduce speed and guide the motorcycle with a relaxed grip to a controlled condition), there may be an increased risk of a crash.”
A Total Of 1,464 Motorcycles Fall Under Harley-Davidson’s Recall
Diving deeper, all CVO Street Glides produced between May 10 and October 6, 2024 fall under the recall. This includes a total of 1,464 motorcycles and each one of these suffers from the said issue. As for the solution, Harley-Davidson will fix the problem free of cost at your nearest dealership. There, your Street Glide will receive a ballast and strap, along with a recalibration of the ECM (engine control module). The recall schedule is given below for your reference:
- December 14 to 21, 2023 – Dealer communication
- December 22 to 29, 2023 – Mailing of owner letters to affected customers

You should also know the company won’t offer any reimbursement in case you suffered from the instability prior to the recall. H-D explains “Any pre-notification product failure would have been addressed under the manufacturer’s limited warranty”.
