Doug DeMuro, from the YouTube channel of the same name, pits himself against three of his friends in their cars on a track day to see who is the fastest. Not only are they fighting for the quickest lap time, but they’re also trying not to destroy their cars.

The cars used in this event consist of a 981 Porsche Boxster Spyder, a Porsche Carrera GT, a Ford GT, an E39 BMW M5, and a Lamborghini Murcielago. Doug is also particularly nervous about the Porsche Carrera GT given its $1 million plus price tag. While not all of these are considered to be supercars, neither of them are by any means slow. The Fastest Time Was Set By A Modified Corvette Grand Sport

Doug DeMuro brought his prized Porsche Carrera GT and his Ford GT. Sam Weisman brought his 981 Porsche Boxster Spyder, whereas Kennan Rolsen and Nick Roshon showed up with an E39 BMW M5 and a Lamborghini Murcielago respectively. Doug tries to convince everyone that his Carrera GT has a Formula 1 engine, but Kennan quickly corrects him by reminding him that the engine was initially designed for Formula 1, but it was then repurposed for Le Mans.

As far as track experience goes, neither of them has any apart from the parade lap that they’ve done and Sam’s brief period at the Porsche Experience Center. The group agreed that they would aim for around a 2-minute lap time. Doug explained that there are a few benchmark lap times, such as the 1:51:91 done by a modified Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport and a 2-minute flat time done by an Alfa Romeo Giulia QV.

The Murcielago Is Too Big And Heavy To Set A Fast Lap Time

Doug predicted that Sam would be the fastest driver of the day, followed by himself, and then Nick. Nick had a lot of trouble with his brakes during the second lap as he battled for traction in the heavy Italian supercar; however, he managed a lap time of 2:16:73. Ultimately, his quickest lap time was the final lap at 2:14:95.

Despite having two of the most powerful cars on the track, Doug was unable to beat the Boxster’s time of 2:10:54, which proves that power doesn’t guarantee quick lap times.
